My art interest began as a child.  I was lucky enough to be chosen in grade school to go to classes at John Herron School of Art, where I was exposed to many different art mediums and lots of styles of artwork.  In the 60's I began taking art classes at Indiana University and John Herron School of Art on a part-time basis, while raising five children.

  But it wasn't until 1980, when I moved to the artist colony of Nashville, Indiana that my artwork really began to take shape.  I went to work at an art supply and frame shop in Nashville, and I was like a kid in a candy store.  Being exposed to all the local artists and their work was very inspiring.  I began painting on a daily basis... an hour or two before work, or whenever I could.

  I also have had the opportunity to take a variety of workshops, and I continue to do so.  I served on the Board of Directors for Indiana Heritage Arts for several years, co-chairing the annual art show twice.  I enjoy exhibiting in the Hoosier Salon Gallery, the Brown County Art Gallery, and various shows.

  Traveling has become my favorite way to do fresh and exciting artwork.  I especially enjoy the Southwest, with all its bold colors and contrasts.  Plein Air is my favorite way of expressing light, color, and feeling in a painting.  In recent years, I have focused on pastel work, but I also still enjoy doing oils and an occasional watercolor.  I'm a member of Indiana Heritage Arts, the Hoosier Salon, Indiana Plein Air Painters of America and an artist member of the Brown County Art Gallery and the Indiana Artists Club, and an associate member of the Tucson Plein Air Painters Society.  I have received awards from several of these groups.
